The Public Square Project

The Public Square Project is a non-profit organization and Sprout Fund Seed Award recipient, bent on activating “citizen journalists.” To this end, they want to create a web site that gives regular people, primarily young adults, the tools they need to dive into political journalism, get involved in the world around them, and fight for government transparency.

Bearded Studio was called in to brand the organization and build a site which would promote the idea, and help them acquire more funding. And there isn’t much we like better than seeing young people get involved in politics and caring about stuff.

Once we got the Project on their feet with a logo and web site, they needed to put out the call for Pittsburghers that were ready to take up the mantle of citizen journalist. Bearded Studio produced a poster to grab the attention of passersby, and get them to the Project’s free workshops, where they could be activated as our city’s budding government investigators.

The workshop poster was selected for inclusion in CONTEXT: AIGA Pittsburgh’s Annual Design Awards Show.
